A 40-year-old man was arrested in Nova Cidade, Brazil, after shooting a neighbor's puppy, which resulted in severe injury to the small dog. The incident reportedly occurred when the puppy's owner heard distressing cries and was alerted by a neighbor who saw the suspect with a rifle before entering his home. Shortly after, the injured puppy, around three months old, was seen running towards a witness, bleeding and unable to walk due to the gunshot wound that passed through its body.

Police responded to the report of the incident and visited the suspect's residence. However, the man was not home at the time, as confirmed by his son. Authorities seized a pressure rifle that had its serial number altered, as well as a Beeman P17 air pistol from the suspect's property. The case has been officially registered as animal cruelty and illegal possession of a firearm, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding animal welfare and gun control in Brazilian communities.
