Donation from the Pavlos and Alexandras Kanellopoulos Foundation to KAT – Construction of a new building for the housing of surgeries
The Pavlos and Alexandras Kanellopoulos Foundation has made a significant donation for the expansion and renovation of KAT hospital, including the construction of a new building for surgical operations.
A meeting was held at the Maximos Mansion, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to discuss the donation from the Pavlos and Alexandras Kanellopoulos Foundation aimed at expanding and renovating KAT hospital facilities. The session focused on prioritizing the projects that will have the least impact on the hospital's daily operations, which handles emergencies throughout the year.
The most significant project discussed is the construction of a new building dedicated to surgical operations, vital for KAT's capacity to perform approximately 16,000 surgeries annually, of which around 40% are emergency procedures. The hospital averages 25,000 inpatients per year, establishing it as the leading trauma and orthopedic center in the Balkans, highlighting the necessity for upgraded facilities.
The new buildings will be designed to the best standards for orthopedic cases, ensuring an efficient allocation of resources and space within the hospital. This donation reflects an ongoing commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in Greece, ensuring that KAT can meet the increasing demands of its patients while maintaining high-quality medical services.
