Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car on Boituva highway

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on the Castello Branco Highway in Boituva, Brazil.

A tragic accident occurred on the night of Thursday, October 13, when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a car on the Castello Branco Highway (SP-280) in Boituva, São Paulo. According to the State of São Paulo Transportation Agency (Artesp), the incident took place at kilometer 118 of the highway heading inland. The driver failed to brake in time, resulting in the collision that led to the pedestrian's death.

Following the accident, the victim was thrown onto the grassy shoulder of the highway, beneath the metal guardrails, and was pronounced dead at the scene. In response to the incident, the first lane and the shoulder of the highway were closed off to traffic. The Civil Police decided not to conduct an investigation, further indicating the straightforward nature of the accident.

Despite the severity of the incident, there was no reported congestion on the highway following the accident, and the body of the deceased was removed by a funeral service. This event highlights ongoing safety concerns for pedestrians and vehicles on busy highways, particularly in areas where immediate action may be required by drivers to prevent accidents.
