The confrontation occurred around 11:15 PM when the officers spotted a group of approximately fifteen armed men. Upon realizing the presence of the police, the suspects began firing at the officers, prompting a return of fire from the police. During the exchange of gunfire, one officer sustained injuries to the face from bullet shrapnel, while the other was hurt in the hand while trying to exit their vehicle. The Ministry of Justice and Public Safety (PC) confirmed that both injured officers were promptly taken to a health facility but are currently not at risk of death, indicating that their injuries are not life-threatening.
