Fourth suspect in the robbery and murder of a jewelry businessman arrested in PI; drove the victim's stolen car

The fourth suspect involved in the robbery and murder of jewelry businessman Edivan Francisco de Moraes has been arrested in Piauí, Brazil.

The fourth suspect involved in the robbery and murder of Edivan Francisco de Moraes, a businessman in the jewelry sector who was killed on January 3, was arrested on the morning of March 13 during the second phase of Operation Caronte in Altos, Piauí. According to Detective Natan Cardoso from the Homicide and Protection Department, the suspect, known as Renato 'Magão', was apprehended at home and is suspected of having played a direct role in Moraes's murder, including driving the stolen vehicle belonging to the victim.

Detective Cardoso described Renato as a highly dangerous individual with a history of robbery and assaults on lottery outlets. He was one of those who entered the victim's home and directly committed the crime, having also been responsible for driving the stolen car on the day of the murder. Additionally, the suspect fled from prison in 2025 and had an outstanding arrest warrant against him at the time of his arrest on March 13.

During the operation at Renato's residence, police seized a .40 caliber firearm with its serial number removed, ammunition, two cell phones, a watch, and various other items. This arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the violent crime that has shocked the local community, highlighting issues of public safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing organized crime in the region.
