UP: Elderly Woman Killed for Just 300 Rupees, Accused Arrested
A 70-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh was murderously strangled over a mere 300 rupee theft, leading to the swift arrest of the perpetrator.
In a shocking incident in Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh, police have revealed the murder of a 70-year-old woman, identified as Mrs. Lakhipatia, who was strangled to death due to a greed for just 300 rupees. The woman was found dead outside her home on February 10, lying in her porch by her son, Ramsharan, who alerted the authorities. Upon arrival, police confirmed her cause of death as strangulation and began an investigation to find the assailant.
Given the seriousness of the crime, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar ordered the formation of a special team to expedite the investigation. During their inquiries, police gathered intelligence that led them to arrest the suspect, Omprakash Patel alias Chhotu, who was reportedly hiding near the Saiyyad Sarawan intersection. He was apprehended promptly by a police unit conducting a strategic move to corner him as he attempted to evade capture.
In police questioning, the accused made startling revelations, indicating that his motive stemmed from intentions of robbery when he entered the woman's home. This incident has raised serious concerns regarding safety in the community, highlighting vulnerabilities of the elderly and prompting local authorities to enhance security measures in residential areas. The case serves as a stark reminder of the threats faced by vulnerable populations due to opportunistic crimes driven by economic desperation.
