According to the local government, this figure also surpassed their initial expectations of attracting at least 139,000 revelers. This event highlights the growing popularity of Carnival celebrations in the region, showcasing how local festivities can draw large crowds alongside cultural significance.
In 2026, the Carnival featured two weekends of preliminary festivities on January 31 and February 1, followed by the official days of celebration from February 13 to 17. A total of 64 different parade groups, or 'blocos,' entertained locals and visitors as they paraded through various neighborhoods in the city. This year's festivities offered a much extended schedule, totaling 500 hours of programming, compared to 240 hours in 2025, providing even more opportunities for community engagement and enjoyment.
