Carnival 2026 in João Pessoa: Bloco Cafuçu parades through the Historic Center this Friday (13)

The Bloco Cafuçu will parade through the Historic Center of João Pessoa this Friday evening, marking the start of the Carnival season with a new visual identity honoring the 40th anniversary of Muriçocas do Miramar.

The Bloco Cafuçu is set to perform this Friday, which is the first Friday of Carnival, starting at 8 PM in the Historic Center of João Pessoa. For Carnival 2026, the bloco has introduced a new visual identity in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Muriçocas do Miramar, which paraded earlier this week. This change is part of a broader adjustment in the programming of the event, showcasing the cultural evolution of this traditional celebration.

In addition to a fresh visual identity, the event's stages have been renamed to honor significant figures in Bloco Cafuçu's history. In Praça Dom Adauto, the newly named Adalice Costa Stage pays tribute to the bloco's founder and will host performances from DJ Claudinha Summer and the band Quem Roubou Minha Cueca, featuring Kennedy Costa, a musician known for coauthoring the bloco's anthem. Meanwhile, Avenida General Osório will now host the Corrinha Mendes Stage, named after a past Carnival queen of the bloco, featuring performances by DJ Maraffo, Caburé, and the Orquestra Sanhauá, who will also invite Kennedy Costa for an interpretation of the bloco's anthem.

These changes reflect an ongoing effort to celebrate the legacy of Carnival in João Pessoa while also adapting to modern trends and reviving the community's spirit. As Carnival approaches, excitement builds among participants and spectators, highlighting the cultural significance of events like these that bring together the local community in festive celebration.
