VIDEO: Tow Truck Caught Driving Wrong Way to Avoid Tree Branches on MG-133
A tow truck was filmed driving in the opposite direction on MG-133 to avoid tree branches, causing concerns about road safety.
A recent video has surfaced showing a tow truck dangerously driving in the wrong lane on MG-133 to evade tree branches encroaching on the roadway. The footage reveals several instances where the truck's driver veers into incoming traffic, creating hazardous situations for other drivers nearby. At one point, a passenger car brakes hard to avoid a collision, while another truck had to slow down significantly near a radar, highlighting the risks posed by this reckless maneuvering.
In response to the situation depicted in the video, G1 reached out to the Department of Roads of Minas Gerais (DER-MG) to address the apparent neglect in maintaining the trees along the road. The department acknowledged the issue, promising to conduct an inspection of the segment between Piau and Tabuleiro to assess the road's condition and ensure safety measures are in place to prevent such incidents from recurring.
The report also sought information from the Military Highway Police (PMRv), which stated that they could not issue a citation based solely on video footage. They advised that, for enforcement actions to take place, direct witnesses or further evidence of the incident would be required. This raises concerns about the enforcement of road safety regulations and the necessity of proactive measures to maintain clear roadways for drivers in Minas Gerais.
