Heat increases in Delhi, hottest day of the season at 34.4 degrees, AQI in 'moderate' category

Delhi recorded its hottest day of the season so far, with a maximum temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius, significantly impacting air quality.

On Friday, Delhi recorded its highest temperature of the season at 34.4 degrees Celsius, which is seven degrees above the normal for this time of year. This temperature surpasses the previous day's record of 34.3 degrees Celsius, highlighting the increasing heat in the national capital. The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi was rated in the 'moderate' category, standing at 171, which while not severe, is still noticeable for residents of the city.

The minimum temperatures also reported a rise, with Safdarjung recording 17 degrees Celsius, which is 3.6 degrees higher than the normal. Other areas such as Lodhi Road and Ridge Station followed with minimum temperatures of 16.3 and 17.8 degrees Celsius respectively, also above the seasonal average. Meteorological expert Mahesh Palawat from Skymet mentioned that no significant weather activity is expected in Delhi and neighboring states like Punjab over the next ten days, suggesting a continuation of clear skies and intense sunshine.

This trend of rising temperatures places additional strain on residents and could have implications for heat-related health issues. With clear skies expected, residents might face challenges related to prolonged sun exposure. As the summer heat intensifies, it becomes crucial for both individuals and authorities to take appropriate measures to mitigate heat exposure and ensure air quality remains within a safe range.
