Sangji University RISE Business Division Expands Collaboration in Marine Bio Field
Sangji University's RISE Business Division hosted a lecture focusing on the response of marine ecosystems to climate change and aims to strengthen collaboration in marine bio and biohealth research with Jeju University.
On November 11, Sangji Universityβs RISE Business Division, headed by Director Kim So-hyung, organized a special lecture featuring Jeju University Professor Park Sang-ryul on the topic of 'Response of Marine Ecosystem to Climate Change.' The seminar was designed to share insights on changes in marine ecosystems due to climate change and to reinforce the research collaboration framework in the marine bio and biohealth areas. During his lecture, Professor Park discussed the impacts of climate change on marine biodiversity and ecosystem structure while presenting the latest research trends and future directions for marine bio research.
At the event, key details of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing cooperation between Sangji University and Jeju University's Subtropical Research and Development Division were shared. The collaboration will focus on practical cooperation frameworks in areas such as promoting commercialization of marine bio R&D results, sharing databases and technical advice to support marine bio startups, hosting joint research and academic meetings, facilitating personnel exchange between the institutions, and other cooperative efforts for mutual advancement. Over thirty participants, including faculty members, researchers, graduate, and undergraduate students from Sangji University, gathered to discuss research cooperation strategies involving marine environments and biohealth, exploring potential joint research through academic exchanges and networking.
A representative from the Sangji University RISE Business Division stated, 'This special lecture will strengthen our research capabilities in the marine bio field and facilitate the commercialization of research outcomes while enhancing startup connections.' They further expressed a commitment to continuously working towards establishing a regional innovation research ecosystem based on inter-university collaboration. Additionally, the R&D division aims to foster advanced industries in K-MEDI-based bio-functional materials and digital health, focusing on strengthening networks among government, industry, academia, and hospitals while promoting joint research and close support for biohealth-based companies.
