The fatal incident occurred on Tuesday, October 10, along the rural road known as Ramal Paraíso, where Thiago was reportedly attempting to intervene in a quarrel between the wife of the suspect and his nephew. During this altercation, Thiago was fatally attacked with a machete, resulting in his death. Local residents united in their anger and subsequently torched the suspect's home as an act of vengeance, prompting him to seek police protection.

In his attempt to evade further violence, the suspect initially hid in a nearby forest but ultimately decided to contact the authorities for assistance.
