Ecuador's Petroamazonas has awarded the export of 14.4 million barrels of crude oil to four international firms, generating an estimated $644.8 million in revenue for the state.
Petroamazonas, Ecuador's state oil company, announced the awarding of a contract for the export of 14.4 million barrels of crude oil from the Oriente and Napo fields to four international companies. This decision, made public on February 12, 2026, is expected to bring in approximately $644.8 million for the Ecuadorian state over the upcoming months. The exports are set to take place between March and April of the same year and were allocated following two transparent and competitive international tenders held on February 5, 2026.
The awarded companies include Unipec America INC., Shell Western Supply and Trading Limited, Petrochina International Co. Ltd., and ENAP - Empresa Nacional del Petróleo. The allocation process involved dividing the total volume of crude into several lots, with Unipec receiving 720,000 barrels and Shell Western 2,880,000 barrels, among others. The report highlighted the price differentials offered by each company, reflecting the competitive nature of the bidding process, which aims to ensure maximum revenue generation for the state.
This development is significant for Ecuador as it continues to seek foreign investment and partnership through its oil exports. The successful completion of this contract not only underscores the country’s oil production capabilities but also points to its strategy to leverage international relations for economic growth. The move is expected to bolster the local economy while enhancing the state’s revenue from natural resources during a period when many economies are diversifying their energy sources.
