Government activates social aid for those affected by fire in Multicomercio
The Ecuadorian government is providing social aid to victims of a major fire at the Multicomercio building in Guayaquil, which has affected over 100 families.
In response to a large fire that has engulfed the Multicomercio building in Guayaquil for more than 24 hours, the Ecuadorian government has mobilized social assistance for the victims. The fire, which broke out early on Wednesday, led to the evacuation of at least 100 families from the affected premises. Firefighters are working tirelessly from multiple fronts to extinguish the flames, which have caused partial structural collapses in two of the five towers of the building, with the remaining structures also at risk of collapse.
The Minister of Human Development, Zaida Rovira, visited the disaster area to assess the situation and the needs of those affected. In response to the emergency, the government has set up a tent to accommodate the victims and ascertain the extent of damage experienced by the residents. Authorities are working on recovery plans to assist those who have suffered collateral damages due to the fire.
The ongoing situation highlights the vulnerabilities of urban infrastructure in Ecuador and the importance of timely government intervention in disaster scenarios. The steps taken by the government not only aim to provide immediate relief to the affected families but also to establish a framework for longer-term recovery and support for those impacted by such incidents.
