Italo Magalhães Barbosa, a 24-year-old man, was reported missing after leaving his aunt's house in Manaus on Saturday, where he had gone for a job interview. His disappearance sparked concern among family members, who noted that he had contacted his aunt for a ride to a venue to meet a friend after the interview. Security camera footage captured Italo leaving the house, but after getting out of the car before reaching his intended destination, all communication with him ceased.

On Thursday morning, authorities discovered Italo's body in an advanced state of decomposition in a forested area of the Japiim neighborhood in southern Manaus. The Medical Legal Institute (IML) was called to retrieve the body for investigation.
