The outbreak primarily affected the EMEI 'Prof. Octávio Dezan Sobrinho', where around 144 children aged up to five years are enrolled. Reports indicated that 50 of these students exhibited symptoms such as vomiting and fever, leading to significant concern among parents and the local community. Additional testing included the collection of stool samples from some affected individuals to help identify the specific virus involved.
In total, the outbreak resulted in 79 people needing medical attention, including 56 children and 23 adults. Fortunately, all reported cases are recovering.
