Unesp approves unprecedented course in Chinese language and culture with exchange and dual diploma in Assis
Unesp has approved a unique degree in Chinese language and culture that includes an exchange program and dual diploma, set to start in August 2026.
Unesp, a prominent Brazilian university, has announced the launch of a groundbreaking four-year degree program in Chinese language and culture, which will be the first of its kind in Brazil and Latin America. Beginning in August 2026, the program aims to enroll 40 students who will have the opportunity to study the first two years in Brazil and then the final two years at Hubei University in China, contingent upon their performance and proficiency in the Chinese language.
The initiative is part of a strategic partnership with Hubei University, which will contribute $300,000 annually to support the course's infrastructure and development. Maysa Furlan, the rector of Unesp, emphasizes that this shared degree program is a significant step toward internationalization, enhancing educational opportunities for Brazilian students and fostering cross-cultural academic exchange. The program also has a strong focus on international business relations, responding to the growing demand for expertise in Chinese language and culture in various professional fields.
This innovative course responds to the increasing interest in Asia, particularly China, as a crucial player in global economics and trade. By offering a unique educational path that includes cultural immersion and language mastery, Unesp not only addresses local academic needs but also positions its graduates competitively in an increasingly globalized job market. The dual diploma will further enhance the qualifications of students, equipping them with valuable skills sought by employers in both Brazil and abroad.
