Latvian tennis player Jelena Ostapenko, currently ranked 24th in the WTA rankings, achieved a significant milestone by reaching the semifinals of the Doha 1000 points tournament. In the quarterfinal match, Ostapenko overcame Italy's Elisabetta Cocciaretto, who is ranked 57th, with a score of 7-5, 6-4. This victory allows Ostapenko to earn 390 points in the WTA rankings, reflecting her strong performance throughout the tournament.
In the first set, Ostapenko demonstrated her skill by breaking Cocciaretto's serve twice, taking an early lead of 3-0 and later extending it to 5-2. However, Cocciaretto fought back, winning three consecutive games before Ostapenko secured the set at 7-5.
