Greece has showcased its vibrant tourism sector at the recent 2026 Spring edition of the Romania Tourism Exhibition (Târgul de Turism al României ROMEXPO) held in Bucharest. The presence of various regional representatives, including Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Central Macedonia, and Sterea Hellas, signifies Greece's commitment to attracting Romanian tourists. This is particularly significant as over a million Romanians are reported to visit Greece each year, making them a vital segment of the Greek tourism market.

During the exhibition's inauguration, Greece’s ambassador to Romania, Lili-Evanghelia Grammatikou, attended alongside notable figures including the honorary consul of Greece in Constanța, Theodoros Skandalidis, and members of the Greek community in Romania. Their presence underscores the importance of Romanian-Greek relations and the focus on enhancing tourism ties between the two countries. The ambassador visited booths and engaged with representatives from both the regional and local administrations, as well as Greek exhibitors, indicating an active effort to strengthen bilateral tourism initiatives.

The Greek tourism sector's strategy likely aims to capitalize on the increasing flow of Romanian tourists, who contribute significantly to the local economies in various parts of Greece. Promoting regions like Thessaloniki and Thassos at this exhibition can further stimulate interest and potentially increase visitor numbers, highlighting the interdependence between tourism and diplomacy in fostering economic relations between Greece and Romania.
