To counter the threat of Russian drones, Ukraine is reportedly enhancing a new laser weapon, as reported by the US magazine 'The Atlantic.' Ukrainian soldiers have showcased a model named 'Sunray,' which resembles a telescope equipped with multiple cameras and can be stored in the trunk of a light vehicle. Unlike the frequently depicted laser weapons in Hollywood films, this device does not emit visible light or generate noise. Mounted on the rooftop of a pickup truck, the laser was able to take down a test drone within seconds.

Lasers function as amplifiers of light, allowing them to focus beams to heat various materials, cut, melt, or burn them. According to data from the Israeli defense company 'Rafael,' the power of Israel's 'Iron Beam' defense system is around one hundred kilowatts. By focusing the laser beam on a small area, this high power density can cause significant damage to a kamikaze drone, effectively neutralizing it. Other countries are also testing laser weapons for similar defensive purposes, illustrating a growing trend in military technology that prioritizes precision and efficiency in combat.
