A truck driver was seriously injured after being crushed by a part of his own vehicle while trying to repair it on the BR-324 highway in Bahia.
A truck driver, aged 40, is in serious condition after an accident on the BR-324 highway in Bahia, where he was crushed by a part of his own vehicle. The incident occurred after the driver pulled over to the roadside in the Vila Aparecida district near Riachão do Jacuípe, about 79 km from Feira de Santana, to address an issue with one of the truck's wheels.
According to information from the Brigada Anjos Jacuipenses, who provided first aid, the driver noticed a problem while driving towards Feira de Santana and decided to stop to assess the situation. While attempting to assess the wheel beneath the truck, the vehicle unexpectedly moved, dragging him several meters. The driver struggled to hold the truck but ended up being pinned between a part of the vehicle and the ground on an elevated section of the road.
Rescue teams indicated that the driver has a suspected fracture in the pelvic region and is receiving medical attention. This incident highlights the dangers faced by drivers when performing repairs on heavy vehicles and raises concerns about safety procedures on highways in Brazil, where maintenance vehicle regulations may not always be enforced effectively.
