On Wednesday afternoon, a 21-year-old man was arrested in Ribeira do Pombal, Bahia, for allegedly sending death and rape threats to employees of a newspaper based in the Federal District of Brazil. The arrest was made by the Civil Police of the Federal District with the assistance of the Civil Police of Bahia, which enabled the location and apprehension of the suspect. After an investigation, authorities were able to trace the origins of the threats through cyber evidence, leading to the suspect's identification and arrest while he was in the act.

The police reported that the threats were sent daily and included horrifying content such as real execution videos, animal mutilation, firearms, files related to child sexual exploitation, and racist materials.
