The city of Maricá, located in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, is gearing up for the 2026 Carnival, which is expected to attract approximately 600,000 attendees to various street parties over the six-day celebration. Given the large influx of visitors, local security agencies are planning to strengthen their presence to ensure the safety of all participants. Major Yeddo Abreu, the commander of the 6th Military Police Company, announced that there will be 180 police officers deployed each day during the festivities, including a specialized team for crowd control and special operations.

In addition to the police presence, the Citizen Security Secretariat will also be enhancing its team, with 180 municipal guards set to operate across the four districts of the city. Furthermore, 24-hour surveillance through cameras placed across neighborhoods will be implemented, providing an additional layer of security during this busy period. Major Abreu highlighted that their approach will involve a fully integrated operation among the military police, civil police, and municipal security forces, ensuring a coordinated effort in maintaining public safety.
