Kwara governor appoints new head of hajj delegation
Kwara State Governor has appointed Alhaji AKpotwa Goshi II as the leader of the state’s delegation to the 2026 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has taken a significant step towards the organization of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage by appointing the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji AKpotwa Goshi II, as the Ameerul-Hajj for the state. This appointment was announced in a recent statement by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye. As Ameerul-Hajj, Goshi II will be responsible for leading and overseeing the welfare of Kwara State’s Muslim pilgrims during the significant religious journey to the holy land.
The role of Ameerul-Hajj is pivotal, as it involves not just leading the state’s delegation but also acting as a crucial liaison between the pilgrims and the relevant authorities in both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. This includes coordination with officials to ensure that the pilgrimage runs smoothly and meets all necessary requirements. By appointing a respected figure like Alhaji Goshi II, the governor likely aims to ensure that the spiritual needs and welfare of the pilgrims are prioritized, especially given the complexities involved in such a large-scale event.
The announcement also highlights the importance of the Hajj pilgrimage to Muslim communities, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to facilitating this sacred journey. As the 2026 pilgrimage approaches, there will be more preparatory activities and engagements to ensure that everyone involved has a seamless experience. With this early appointment, the Kwara state government is setting the stage for effective planning and support for its pilgrims, reflecting its dedication to one of the pillars of Islam that mandates Hajj for those who are able to undertake it.
