Driver loses control and car flips in Volta Redonda

A 62-year-old driver lost control of his car and flipped it over in Volta Redonda, Brazil, due to brake failure.

A 62-year-old man experienced a severe accident when he lost control of his vehicle on the João Antônio Ravache viaduct in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro. According to the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (Semop), the driver reported that his brakes failed while descending the viaduct, causing him to flip the car. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, although the situation could have been much worse given the nature of the accident.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the driver's National Driver's License (CNH) had expired, and the vehicle's documentation had been irregular since 2023. This raises significant concerns regarding road safety and the adherence to legal requirements by motorists in the area. The Semop issued a fine of R$ 293.47 for driving with an expired license, and the vehicle was towed to a municipal impound lot.

This incident highlights not only the dangers associated with vehicle malfunction but also the importance of maintaining valid driver’s licenses and proper vehicle documentation to ensure compliance with traffic regulations. Local authorities may need to increase awareness campaigns about vehicle maintenance and the consequences of non-compliance to prevent similar situations in the future.
