Speaking about the ignored letter from S. Cichanouskaja to the Prime Minister – Reaction from I. Ruginienė's representative

Sviatlana Cichanouskaja's advisor revealed that her letter to the Lithuanian Prime Minister went unanswered, as they sought compromises regarding her security arrangements.

In a recent discussion on the Lrytas program "Deciphering the Essence with Dovydas Pancerovas," Dzianis Kuchynski, an advisor to Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Cichanouskaja, claimed that a letter addressed to the Lithuanian Prime Minister was ignored. This correspondence was a critical step in their efforts to negotiate compromises over Cichanouskaja’s level of protection. The advisor indicated that the decision for Cichanouskaja to spend more time in Poland was primarily motivated by security and protection concerns.

Kuchynski further explained that the opposition was actively seeking mutually beneficial compromises, such as suggesting that the State Protection Service should not accompany Cichanouskaja during her foreign visits, while also reducing the number of officials providing protection when in Lithuania. Despite these proposals, they have received no response to Cichanouskaja’s letter, highlighting the ongoing challenges in addressing her safety while balancing diplomatic relations.

This situation underscores the complexities surrounding Cichanouskaja's status in Lithuania and her security needs. The lack of communication from the Lithuanian government raises questions about its stance on supporting opposition figures from Belarus and the implications this has for international relations, particularly with Poland as a nearby ally. The continued silence on the matter may affect both public perception and international diplomatic interactions regarding the Belarusian opposition movement.
