At the age of 48, Ahonen showcased his skills in this new discipline, finishing with a top speed of 115.94 kilometers per hour and securing seventh place in the finals. His son Mico also competed, achieving a top speed of 118.83 km/h and a sixth place finish. Both athletes participated in the S2 category, marking a notable moment in their sporting careers as they transition from ski jumping to speed skiing.
