The Salone del Mobile.Milano is set to return to India to enhance its connection with an emerging and increasingly interesting market for Italian design and furniture companies. Scheduled to take place in New Delhi and Mumbai, this event will present exciting innovations and initiatives related to the 2026 edition, which is slated for April 21-26 at Fiera Milano. The number of Indian professionals attending has seen a steady increase, with nearly 4,500 participants recorded recently, positioning India at the tenth place among the 160 countries represented at the fair. Moreover, Italy ranks as the second EU country in terms of furniture export value to India and is one of the few to maintain a positive trade balance, illustrating the competitiveness of Italian firms in this sector. Exports from Italy to India between January and October 2025 have significantly exceeded imports, highlighting the robust demand for Italian design and furnishings in the Indian market. This trend underscores the growing interest and potential for Italian brands within India’s vibrant economic landscape. As part of this initiative, the Salone del Mobile's Raritas exhibition will be featured during the India Art Fair in New Delhi, a prominent platform for contemporary art and creativity within the country. The presentation will showcase curated icons, unique objects, and outsider art, creating a fusion between traditional design and modern artistic expression, thereby fostering greater cultural exchange and collaboration between Italy and India in the realms of art and design.
