Firefighters enter the 4th day of searches for a teenager who disappeared at a beach in São Sebastião

Firefighters in São Sebastião, Brazil, are in their fourth day of searching for a missing 15-year-old boy who disappeared while swimming with friends at Juquehy beach.

Firefighters from the Maritime Firefighters Group (GBMar) in São Sebastião have been conducting searches for a 15-year-old boy who went missing in the ocean at Juquehy beach during a recreational outing with friends. The boy disappeared on Monday, October 9, around 11:30 AM, while playing in the water. Despite the search efforts, including divers, boats, and helicopters, he has not been located as of Thursday morning, October 12.

The circumstances surrounding the disappearance indicate that the boy was playing a game called "jacaré" in the waves near a designated area marked with signs warning of strong currents. At the time, the tide was producing waves up to one meter high. Unfortunately, the group of friends faced difficulties in the water, leading to the tragic situation where the young boy was swept away.

The search operation is set to continue until the end of the day on Thursday, October 12, and if the boy is not found, the operation will resume on Friday morning, October 13. This ongoing search highlights the dangers associated with swimming in treacherous conditions and serves as a somber reminder of the importance of water safety, especially for young swimmers in potentially hazardous environments.
