Evacuation of 173 Syrian families from six camps in Idlib countryside due to rains
173 Syrian families were evacuated from six camps in Idlib, northwestern Syria, due to severe weather conditions, as announced by the Syrian Minister of Emergency Situations.
In response to severe weather conditions, the Syrian Minister of Emergency Situations Raed Saleh announced the evacuation of 173 families from six camps located in the Badama and Kherbet El-Joz areas of Idlib. The evacuations were necessary due to heavy rains that posed risks to the residents' safety and well-being. The operation took place over the last two days, with the ministry ensuring that evacuated families received essential supplies at temporary shelters.
The ministry has been proactively addressing the challenges created by the weather, implementing drainage measures to reduce water accumulation and protecting the tents and belongings of the affected families. Furthermore, in anticipation of successive weather disturbances, the authorities have opened over 25 roads and more than 30 water passages while removing five dirt barriers to facilitate better access and aid delivery.
Minister Saleh emphasized that the ministry is working tirelessly to meet the needs of civilians in northwestern Syriaβs camps while also carrying out emergency interventions across various regions. These efforts include clearing war debris, providing medical aid, and supporting affected communities to mitigate the impacts of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
