Lufthansa pilots and cabin crew have started a strike, affecting flights from Prague

Lufthansa pilots and cabin crew have initiated a 24-hour strike, leading to the cancellation of several flights from Prague and affecting thousands of passengers throughout Germany.

On Thursday, pilots and cabin crew members of the German airline Lufthansa began a planned 24-hour strike, which has been reported by the DPA news agency. This strike is expected to significantly disrupt air travel, with estimates from the airport union ADV indicating that over 460 flights will be canceled across Germany, affecting around 69,000 passengers. Specifically, at Václav Havel Airport in Prague, four Lufthansa flights to Munich and Frankfurt have already been canceled, while two flight options remain available at 10:25 and 18:45 to Frankfurt.

Passengers planning to travel are advised to check directly with the airline regarding alternatives, as a morning flight to Munich scheduled for 6:15 on Friday has been canceled. Both unions representing the strikers have expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing negotiations, which they feel have yet to meet their demands. Harry Jaeger from the UFO union, which represents cabin crew, noted that the strike is proceeding as expected, indicating strong actions from the staff.

The strike highlights ongoing labor unrest within the airline industry, as workers advocate for better conditions and pay in a time of economic recovery. The significant impact on travel plans, particularly during peak travel times, sheds light on the tensions between labor rights and airline operations, suggesting potential prolonged negotiations ahead if the issues at hand remain unresolved.
