Women subjected to intimate examination by fake doctor demand R$ 250,000 in compensation

Five women in Brazil are seeking R$ 250,000 in damages after a fraudulent doctor performed vaginal ultrasounds on them.

Five women in Cananéia, Brazil, have initiated legal action against Wellington Augusto Mazini Silva, who was arrested for illegally practicing medicine after posing as a doctor at a hospital. They are demanding R$ 250,000 in reparations for moral damages, alleging he conducted invasive vaginal ultrasounds without proper medical authorization. Each woman is seeking R$ 50,000 in compensation for the distress and humiliation they experienced during the examinations.

Mazini was apprehended on January 7th, having used the medical registration number of an actual doctor, his business associate, to facilitate these examinations. He claimed he was acting under instructions from the licensed physician and was to receive R$ 2,000 for the tests. This case has prompted the São Paulo Regional Medical Council (Cremesp) to launch an investigation into the situation, highlighting the serious implications of identity fraud in healthcare settings.

The women's lawsuit includes claims against Mazini, the Irmandade Boituva Saúde, which manages healthcare services in Cananéia, and other potentially liable parties involved in the case. This incident raises critical questions about patient safety, the vetting of medical professionals, and the necessity for strict regulations to prevent unauthorized medical practices that endanger public trust and health provisions in Brazil.
