Consumer Electronics Giant Nojima Raises Starting Salary to 400,000 Yen for Exceptional Part-Time Workers

Nojima has announced a significant increase in starting salaries for new graduates, raising it to a maximum of 400,000 yen for those with exceptional part-time experience.

Nojima, a leading consumer electronics retail chain in Japan, has announced that it will raise the starting salary for new graduates entering the company in April to a maximum of 400,000 yen, which marks a substantial increase of 26.1% compared to last year's starting salary of 317,000 yen. This bump in compensation is aimed at attracting high-caliber graduates who have previous part-time experience at Nojima stores, rewarding those who have demonstrated exceptional performance and deep understanding of the company's operations and products.

The initiative includes the creation of a new employment category called "dearu kui nyusha" (ๅ‡บใ‚‹ๆญๅ…ฅ็คพ), which applies to a select group of graduates. Out of 586 expected new hires, only seven are anticipated to qualify under this new category, highlighting the company's desire to leverage existing talent who are already familiar with its operations. Moreover, for those graduates who do not meet the criteria, the starting salary will still see an increase to 344,000 yen, up 8.5% from the previous year, demonstrating Nojima's intent to boost the overall motivation and retention of its workforce.

Nojima has consistently increased its starting salaries over the years, with the salary for new hires having risen from 245,000 yen in April 2021. Looking ahead to hiring plans for April 2027, the company intends to allocate approximately one-third of its new graduate hires to the "dearu kui nyusha" category, indicating a strategic focus on capitalizing on young talent with relevant experience in the organization.
