Clandestine bingo linked to Rogério Andrade offered bonuses of up to R$ 5,000 to bettors, says MPRJ

A clandestine bingo operation in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, linked to Rogério Andrade, was found to be offering significant bonuses to encourage betting, according to investigations by the Ministry of Public of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ).

The Ministry of Public of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) has reported on an illicit bingo operation located in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, which came under scrutiny during a police operation on the 11th of this month. Investigations revealed that the bingo was enticing customers to continue wagering by offering substantial bonuses ranging from R$ 100 to R$ 5,000. This scheme is allegedly tied to Rogério Andrade and his son, Gustavo Andrade, both of whom are considered important figures in this underground network.

Investigators uncovered details through intercepted conversations on the phone of Jefferson Monteiro da Silva, a target of the Operation Calígula, which is focused on a wider network of illegal bingos associated with criminal figures. The dialogues highlighted the mechanics of how these bonuses were allocated to maintain a steady flow of bets at the site. The MPRJ also identified Ana Paula Alexandre Novello as the alleged manager of the bingo, with Thiago Perdomo Magalhães, known as 'Batata,' serving as the venue's manager.

The revelations from the investigations shed light on the operations of organized crime in Rio de Janeiro and the attempts to lure bettors into illegal activities through financial incentives. This operation reflects ongoing efforts by authorities to dismantle such networks that threaten public order and legal gambling activities. As the investigation unfolds, more details about the structure and reach of these illicit operations are anticipated, with implications for ongoing law enforcement efforts against organized crime in the region.
