The Bunggi Punguhje ceremony, organized by the Bunggi Punguhje Preservation Association, is an annual event held in the village of Hongdo, located in the Taean district of South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. Scheduled for the 17th and 18th, the festival features traditional rituals including the sacrifice of a cow to cleanse the village’s misfortunes and various ceremonial activities such as the Seogyeong Gut, where locals gather and make offerings at the village shrine. The first day of the ceremony begins early with a cow slaughter followed by performances that represent the community's hopes for safe and prosperous fishing.
