KD surges in polls – reaches highest figure since 2022

The Christian Democrats in Sweden have seen a significant increase in support, hitting 5.6% in recent polls, their highest since 2022.

In the latest February poll by Verian, the Christian Democrats (KD) in Sweden registered 5.6% support, a statistically significant increase from the 4.3% they obtained in January. This marks the highest level of support for KD since the fall of 2022. The party has particularly attracted voters from the Tidö coalition parties, the Moderates and Sweden Democrats, with a minor share also coming from the Center Party.

As the political landscape shifts with just over half a year until the upcoming elections, the gap between the political blocs has also narrowed, now at 6.4 percentage points, the smallest discrepancy since February 2025. The Tidö coalition parties—which include the Moderates, KD, the Liberals, and the Sweden Democrats—currently command 45.9% support, while the opposition parties, consisting of the Social Democrats, the Left Party, the Greens, and the Center Party, together garner 52.3%.

Political analysts, including Per Söderpalm, suggest that the evolving landscape could be attributed to several factors, including a tendency for voters to seek stability in the current government during uncertain times and perceived divisions within the opposition concerning government formation. These dynamics reflect a potentially more competitive electoral scenario as parties position themselves ahead of the elections.
