Innovation Party Jeonbuk Provincial Party “Files complaint against governor and local leaders for ‘sealing off the government office’ during the 12·3 rebellion”

The Innovation Party's Jeonbuk Provincial Party has announced their intention to file a complaint against the governor and local leaders for sealing off government offices during the 12·3 rebellion, alleging misconduct and complicity in the rebellion.

The Innovation Party's Jeonbuk Provincial Party has declared on December 12 that it will file a complaint against the Jeonbuk governor and local leaders for sealing off government offices during the 12·3 rebellion, claiming that their actions constituted complicity and neglect of duty. At a press conference held at the Jeonbuk Provincial Assembly, they articulated that the governor and the mayors of eight municipalities prevented access to the Jeonbuk provincial office and local governments during the crisis, which they argue undermined the constitutional duty of protecting citizens.

During the rebellion, while regions like Gyeonggi-do and Gwangju managed to keep their government offices open in order to safeguard the residents and refuse unconstitutional orders from the central government, the Jeonbuk leaders opted for closures, which the party claims initiated a decision that needs thorough investigation. They stressed the importance of accountability, stating that local leaders hold a distinct administrative responsibility to ensure citizen safety in any crisis.

The Jeonbuk Provincial Party condemned the actions of local leaders, stating that despite the governor’s public opposition to the rebellion, there was a disconnect between his words and actions, as he did not immediately reverse the decision to close the office. With concerns about the legality of the office closures and the lack of official apologies from the leaders involved, the party emphasized the necessity for a comprehensive probe into the matter, which they plan to initiate by submitting a formal complaint to an investigative committee soon.
