Heavy rains affected various regions of Greater Rio, particularly the West Zone of the capital, on Wednesday night.
On the evening of Wednesday, November 11, several regions in Greater Rio experienced heavy rainfall, particularly impacting the West Zone of the capital. According to the Sistema Alerta Rio, significant rainfall was recorded between 7:30 PM and 7:45 PM, with the Bangu station reporting 20.4 mm of rain during this brief period. Additional heavy rainfall was also observed at the Anchieta and Jacarepaguá/Cidade de Deus stations, with recordings of 11.2 mm and 7.6 mm, respectively.
The heavy rains were not confined to the capital, as significant precipitation was also observed in surrounding municipalities like Nova Iguaçu and Mesquita in the Baixada Fluminense region. This weather event has raised concerns about potential flooding, particularly in areas that are prone to water accumulation.
