Road closures and suspension of integration at Metrovía stops due to emergency in a building in the center of Guayaquil
Authorities have implemented temporary road closures in downtown Guayaquil following a major fire and the partial collapse of a nearby building.
The Transit and Mobility Agency (ATM) has imposed temporary road closures across several intersections in downtown Guayaquil in response to a Level 3 alarm fire at a multi-use building located on the corners of Cuenca and Eloy Alfaro streets, which has also affected a nearby residential condominium. The building was evacuated earlier in the morning as firefighters responded to the blaze, but reports emerged later that part of the structure collapsed while emergency crews were actively working on-site. Witnesses, including those broadcasting live on social media, described hearing a loud crash just before the building fell.
