Tinubu has fulfilled campaign promises, opposition can’t defeat him – Omokri

Reno Omokri stated that President Tinubu's successful economic reforms make it difficult for opposition parties to defeat him in the 2027 presidential election.

Reno Omokri, a former aide to President Bola Tinubu, has expressed confidence in the president's ability to retain power in the upcoming 2027 election due to what he describes as fulfilled campaign promises and successful economic reforms. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Omokri pointed to Nigeria's improving macroeconomic indicators and the ruling party, the APC, accumulating a larger number of governorships—from around 20 to nearly 30—as a sign of Tinubu's increasing political clout. This, he suggests, makes it nearly impossible for opposition parties to mount a serious challenge against the incumbent.

Moreover, Omokri argued that the opposition's previous failure to unseat Tinubu when he had fewer resources—both in terms of governors and fulfilled promises—weakens their position even further now. He cites the APC's significant gains in governorships as a factor that has solidified their dominance across various states. According to his assessment, the opposition’s chances of making a comeback are slimmer than ever given the current political landscape.

As the political environment continues to shift in Nigeria favoring the APC, Omokri's statements reflect a growing confidence among members of the ruling party regarding their prospects for the next election. With the implications of Tinubu's reforms providing a potential boost, the landscape for the opposition seems increasingly daunting, questioning their strategic capabilities and resources to counteract the current administration's hold on power in Nigeria.
