Buses in Piracicaba will have recharging via WhatsApp and payment with discounts through mobile; see how it works
The Piracicaba city government is introducing new methods for public transport fare payment, including WhatsApp recharging and mobile payments with discounts.
The city of Piracicaba, Brazil, announced on Wednesday, February 11, new options to facilitate fare payments for its public transportation system. Starting February 14, customers will be able to recharge their Pira Mobilidade transport cards through WhatsApp using a chatbot, which aims to streamline the process for users. In addition to this, from February 28, payments can be made via Google Pay, providing further convenience and potential discounts for mobile users.
According to the municipal administration, these innovations are designed to improve the efficiency of transactions and make it easier for residents to access the city’s bus network. The WhatsApp recharge process requires users to message a designated number, provide their CPF to locate their registration, and choose the desired recharge amount. After completing the transaction, users will receive a code to finalize their payment, which enhances the user experience by integrating popular technology into daily tasks.
These developments reflect a broader trend towards digitalization in public services, indicating an effort by local governments in Brazil to modernize their infrastructure. By adopting such user-friendly technology, Piracicaba's public transport system not only aims to enhance operational efficiency but also to attract more riders by making travel more accessible and cost-effective. The ongoing shift towards technology in public transportation is likely to serve as a model for other cities in the region seeking to implement similar upgrades in their systems.
