More than 182,000 people access free medications through Vita Sanus in Ecuador

The Vita Sanus program in Ecuador has provided free medications to over 182,000 people as part of its initiative during World Sick Day.

In celebration of World Sick Day on February 11, the Vita Sanus program held a training and medication distribution day aimed at enhancing preventive healthcare and acknowledging the role of caregivers. This initiative, recognized as the first Medicine Bank in the country, has evolved into a collaborative management model involving private companies, the pharmaceutical industry, and social organizations. The event focused on educating attendees about digestive health, diabetes management, and caregiver support, particularly in relation to over-the-counter medications.

During the gathering, participants attended sessions designed to empower them with knowledge about health maintenance and the importance of caregiver roles in patient recovery. The activity called 'Echoes of Gratitude' allowed patients to share testimonials about their healing journeys and the support they receive, highlighting the impact of communal care on health outcomes. Additionally, caregivers were given a symbolic acknowledgment for their dedication and invaluable assistance in patient care.

Vita Sanus celebrates a decade of partnership and contributions to public health in Ecuador. Coordinated by Valeria YΓ‘nez, the initiative continues to foster essential collaborations that enhance healthcare access and education among vulnerable populations, reinforcing the importance of treatment equity and community involvement in health management.
