IESS supplies its hospitals with antiretrovirals to guarantee HIV treatments
The Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) has distributed antiretroviral medications to healthcare facilities nationwide to ensure the continuity of HIV treatments.
The Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) has taken significant measures by supplying antiretroviral medications to its health establishments across the country. This initiative is intended to ensure that patients have consistent access to necessary treatments, bolster prevention efforts, and positively impact the quality of life for individuals living with HIV. By reinforcing the healthcare system's capacity to provide these medications, IESS aims to address the ongoing needs of this vulnerable population.
The distribution of these essential medications has reached various provinces, with key hospitals in Pichincha and Guayas being highlighted as recipients. In Pichincha, facilities such as the Carlos Andrade MarΓn Specialty Hospital and the Quito General Hospital have been supplied. Meanwhile, Guayas has seen deliveries to hospitals including the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Specialty Hospital, underscoring a comprehensive approach to healthcare delivery and treatment accessibility.
In addition to enhancing medication availability, the IESS is also increasing its operational capacity by adding 4,000 new appointment slots daily through the reorganization of scheduling. This reflects a broader commitment to improving healthcare services and addressing public health concerns related to HIV treatment and management throughout Ecuador.
