Goeldi Museum opens registrations for the 2026 Young Researchers Club; learn how to participate
The Goeldi Museum in Brazil has opened registrations for its Young Researchers Club, aimed at students from 5th to 9th grade and first-year high school students in the metropolitan region of Belém, featuring 50 available spots.
The Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG) has announced the reopening of registrations for its Young Researchers Club, a program designed to engage young students with the Amazonian science. The registrations are open until February 27 and are available online. The initiative has been refreshed after being put on hold for institutional reorganization connected to preparatory activities for the upcoming COP 30 conference.
For the current edition, the program offers 50 free spots for students ranging from 5th to 9th grade and first-year high school students in both public and private schools in the metropolitan area of Belém. Notably, half of the spots are reserved for public school students, reflecting the museum's commitment to accessibility and educational outreach. Nilson Gabas Júnior, the museum's director, emphasized that the program has undergone theoretical and methodological renovations to align with their educational mission.
This initiative marks a significant effort by the Goeldi Museum to invigorate its educational offerings and foster a connection between the youth and the rich biodiversity of the Amazon. As part of this renewed focus, the program aims to not only stimulate scientific inquiry among young minds but also to enhance their appreciation of the environmental challenges facing the Amazon region, particularly in light of the upcoming international discussions at COP 30.
