On the evening of Tuesday, October 10, two men tragically lost their lives in a horrific accident involving a pickup truck that became uncontrollable while descending the Serra de Taquaruçu. The vehicle struck a parked pickup in a waterfall parking lot and collided with a motorcycle on the TO-030 road. The victims, identified as 51-year-old Emivaldo Luiz de Queiroz and 65-year-old Izambert Ribeiro dos Santos, died on site. Preliminary investigations suggest that a failure in the truck's brakes may have caused the incident.

Izambert Ribeiro dos Santos was a local farmer residing in the Taquaruçu district and was driving the motorcycle that was hit by the out-of-control truck. His funeral services were conducted at his home in the district, with burial scheduled for the afternoon of October 11 at a local cemetery, highlighting the impact of the tragedy on the tight-knit community.

Emivaldo Luiz de Queiroz, also a farmer, lived with his family in a rural area of Palmas, where he engaged in dairy farming.
