A tragic accident occurred on BR-226 in Palmeiras do Tocantins, Brazil, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, a 55-year-old motorcycle rider and a 37-year-old pickup truck driver. According to the Polícia Rodoviária Federal (PRF), the incident began with a head-on collision followed by a secondary lateral crash involving the vehicles. The accident took place around 7 PM on Saturday, September 21, at kilometer 20 of the highway.

The victims were identified by the Secretaria de Segurança Pública as Deusdete da Silva Lima, who was driving the motorcycle, and Elcivan Miranda de Sousa, the driver of the pickup truck. The PRF reported that the area was marked during the incident, with support provided by the Polícia Militar. Investigation into the accident is being handled by the 4th Central Police Station in Tocantinópolis, where the case has been officially recorded.

Local authorities have also stated that the bodies were collected by the Núcleo de Medicina Legal of Araguatins, highlighting the severe implications this accident has on the community as traffic incidents are a leading cause of fatalities.
