Married man who nibbled on BA flight attendant's ear after necking vodka jailed

A married businessman was jailed for sexually assaulting a flight attendant and threatening cabin crew while under the influence of alcohol on a British Airways flight.

Philip Gould, a 64-year-old married businessman, has been sentenced to jail after his disruptive and sexually inappropriate behavior on a flight from Nassau to London Heathrow. While returning from a holiday with his wife, Gould consumed excessive amounts of alcohol, reportedly vodka and wine, which fueled his aggressive behavior on the flight. He made lewd comments to the flight crew, including a disturbing proposition to one male attendant, and verbally abused the cabin staff, culminating in a physical attempt to lunge at the cockpit and yell at the captain.

Gould's reckless actions raised serious safety concerns aboard the aircraft. After being denied further alcohol, he attempted to intimidate the crew with sexually charged comments and profanities, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the safety and comfort of passengers and crew alike. Once he became too intoxicated, he passed out, leading to his arrest upon landing, where he claimed he was merely engaging in "playful banter" despite the severity of his actions.

The court's decision to jail Gould underscored the seriousness of his offenses, including sexual assault and endangering the safety of an aircraft. This incident shines a light on the challenges faced by airline crew members in managing unruly passengers, particularly those under the influence of alcohol, and reinforces the vital importance of maintaining safety protocols on flights.
