Fake Hair, Glasses, and the Web of Blackmail... Arrest of a Doctor Extorting Money
A notorious blackmailer has been arrested in Jaipur for extorting around 10 lakh rupees from an NIA scholar doctor by threatening to leak obscene videos.
In a shocking case of blackmailing uncovered in Jaipur, a savvy conman managed to extort nearly 10 lakh rupees from Dr. Ravi, an NIA scholar, over the course of a year. The perpetrator threatened to disseminate explicit videos of the doctor unless he paid up. To evade capture, the accused changed his appearance significantly, donning a long fake wig and glasses, making it challenging for authorities to identify him until his arrest.
The accused was eventually apprehended in Jaipur, where his disguise was stripped away by the police during the arrest. Identified as Silvester Michael Fernandes, the blackmailer presented himself as a different individual with his wig and glasses. Upon removing his disguise, the true identity of the accused was revealed, showcasing how carefully he had been attempting to hide from law enforcement.
According to police inquiries led by Brahmpuri station officer Hemant Kumar, Fernandes had been residing in the Keshavpura-Bhankrota area of Jaipur for the past one and a half years after moving from Vasai West in Mumbai, where he had completed a course in food management. This case highlights the ongoing issue of blackmail and extortion in India and raises concerns regarding the safety and security of individuals in the face of such threats, especially professionals like scholars who are often targeted.
