Marten Liiv is set to compete in the 1000-meter speed skating event at the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina.

Marten Liiv, competing in the Olympics for the third time, is prioritizing the 1000-meter event in Milan, where he set a record for Estonia at 1:06.73 in November of last year.
In the 1000-meter race, a total of 15 pairs will compete, with Liiv stepping onto the ice last, alongside Polish skater Damian Zurek. The event's favorite is American Jordan Stolz, a two-time world champion and the fastest man in history at this distance, having clocked an impressive time of 1:05.37. The competition will be intense as Liiv aims to improve on his performance from the Beijing Olympics where he finished in seventh place, while Stolz earned gold during that event.
