'In Rio Sul, preserving becomes a marchinha!' wins the 8th edition of the Rio Sul Marchinhas Festival
'In Rio Sul, preserving becomes a marchinha!' has been crowned the champion of the Rio Sul Marchinhas Festival.
The winning marchinha, titled 'Na Rio Sul, preservar vira marchinha!', was composed by Andreia Campos from Angra dos Reis and garnered an impressive 23.83% of the public's votes, making it the standout piece of the festival. The announcement was made during the RJ1 program, with the award ceremony taking place under the Municipal Library of Volta Redonda, enhancing the festive atmosphere of the evening.
This year, the festival received 96 submissions, with eight selected to compete for public voting on G1, resulting in almost 75,000 votes cast by the audience. The runners-up included 'Corrente do Bem' by José Mário de Oliveira from Paraíba do Sul, and the third place was secured by Arilson Claudio Pereira with his marchinha 'Preserva', both of which contribute to the rich and diverse traditions of Carnival music in Brazil.
The festival aims to revive the vibrant traditions of previous Carnivals, celebrating the cultural heritage and community spirit synonymous with these festive times. By bringing together local talents and encouraging public participation, the event not only showcases creative expressions but also reinforces the significance of preserving and promoting cultural identity through music.
